USED PARTS Macy's Garage A Family Tradition Since 1932 Always buying used TR parts and parts cars. Please contact me if you have anything to sell.
I am not able to keep a running inventory of used parts available here, but feel free to contact me with your needs. Most TR2-4 mechanical and trim parts are available, along with a limited stock of sheet metal. Please note: Body panels are difficult to pack and ship, so plan on picking up any sheet metal parts which I may have to aid your restoration.
ENGINES
With respect to engine numbers, some TR engines were used outside of the TR line (Doretti, Morgan, Peerless, and for service spares), so the engine number should be equal to or greater than the commission number of the car. As the commission number gets higher, so will the spread between the engine and commission number. The TRA Judging Standards and Restoration Guidelines suggest this difference was around 500 by the end of TR2 production, but the Heritage Certificates for both of my 1957 small mouth cars indicates the spread was still about 500 numbers at the time they were built (16942 & 17734). Carrying this on out to nearly 80000 cars by the end of TR3A production, a case could be made for as much as 2000 numbers difference for the very last cars.
Deductions are made during concours judging if the number indicates the engine is not original to the car, and this could also have an affect on the value of your completed restoration. If your car has an engine number which is lower than your commission number, or significantly higher (more than 2-3% of the commission #), you'll never find the correct original block but you may be interested in a number which appears more reasonable for your car.
I have the following TR engines available in any configuration you desire from bare block to completely rebuilt and ready to install. If any of these engine numbers look like something which would appear correct for your car, call me to discuss your options.
TS 40613 E TS 51266 E TS 73673 E TSF 296 E (TR3B)* TCF 1904 E (TR3B)*
* Given the low number of TR3B cars produced in each series, the commission numbers and engine numbers should be very close, probably no more than 50-100 apart.
